Eric Prydz has gone from creating one of the sexiest pop videos ever to making one of the greenest for his forthcoming single, ‘Proper Education’.

The video for Prydz’s 2004 smash hit, ‘Call On Me’, was centered around a sweaty aerobics session involving numerous nubile hard-bodies wearing only leotards cut from dental floss. However, the Swedish producer has turned his back on titillation and will be drawing attention to climate change in the video for his forthcoming single, ‘Proper Education’ - a dancefloor destined reworking of Pink Floyd’s classic hit, ‘Another Brick In The Wall’.

Filmed in a gritty North London council estate, the video features numerous tough teens, armed with bricks and BMXs, breaking and entering apartments.

But here’s the twist, the kids aren’t robbing the absent residents, they’re replacing light bulbs to energy savers, turning down central heating thermostats and filling freezers with bricks to make them run more efficiently.

Prydz said: “There was a lot of anticipation around this video and I was really keen to do something a bit different,” Prydz explains.

“Pink Floyd would always use their videos to get a message across and I really wanted to carry on this spirit. I’d been reading so much in the press about climate change and global warming recently and felt it would be great to try and empower people to do something about it. It’s not making a grand statement. It’s just simply saying everyone can do a little and it will make a difference.”

Not only does the video carry a strong environmental theme, but the entire production process of the single’s manufacture has been made carbon neutral by Global Cool, who also advised video director Marcus Adams on the video’s climate change messaging.

The production and distribution of the estimated 40,000 CDs expected to shift upon release on Monday 8th January, will be offset through a carbon offset scheme funded by Global Cool.

See below for how you can beat global warming…

Strut Your Stuff
If you’re going out clubbing this weekend, take public transport or even walk. If you can dance in those shoes you can certainly take a stroll.

Offset The Jetset
Superstar DJs jetting around the globe is just so 90s, especially considering that air travel makes up for 8% of Europe’s CO2 emissions.

Light The Way
Unless you have a nightclub lighting rig in your bedroom, change your bulbs to energy savers that give out the same amount of light but run on a third of the power.

Beat The Heat
“It’s gettin’ hot in here, so take off all your clothes,” sang Nelly but he’d be much better off turning his thermostat down by one degree – 10% better off in fact.

Shower Power
Showers use nearly half the water of baths and cost a whole lot less to heat. If you really must take a bath save energy and share it with a really filthy friend.

Don’t be a Mug - Unplug
Most gadget chargers eat electricity even when not in use. So once you’ve powered up your PSP, iPod or mobile, be sure to power down its greedy little charger.

Stand Up To Stand-By
A television or hi-fi left on standby still burns a huge amount of energy. Why not burn a few calories by getting off your backside and turning it off at the switch?
