Many homeowners and commercial property owners will find that there is a time their heating or cooling systems are not going to work the way that they want. They may need to bring in a professional who will help take care of the issues, but as they do some research, they may notice that many label themselves as HVAC professionals. But is HVAC the same as heating and cooling services?

The HVAC system is going to include all of the heat pumps, gas furnaces, and air conditioning units in a building, both commercial and residential. This means that HVAC is going to deal with both the heating and the cooling in that building, according to Rhode Island HVAC Services, who provides HVAC in Rhode Island

Companies will often use this term interchangeably because many services that handle AC repair will work with heating and cooling solutions. They are also able to cover ductwork and ventilation too.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the different components of the HVAC system and how they work together to help your home stay as comfortable as possible.

What is the Difference Between HVAC and AC?

When we are looking at the industry for air conditioning, the term HVAC can often be used instead of AC. This is because the AC unit is often just one part of the puzzle. The HVAC system is going to refer to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning and the AC part is just for the air conditioning unit.

There are many parts that will fit in with the HVAC system. You will get the air conditioner and other cooling systems throughout the home. But it will also include any of the heating components throughout the home, including the heat pumps and gas furnaces. Then there are the ventilation systems for both of them as well. The AC is just going to include the air conditioner.

Parts of the HVAC System

There will be different parts that fit in with the HVAC system. These all come together to provide your home with the comfort that you need. Some of the different components that are found in the HVAC system includes:

Air Conditioners

Your HVAC system will include an air conditioner. There are two types of air conditioners that you will see. There is the central AC and the window units. The window units are going to be there to cool down one single room and will not have the same power as the central AC.

The central AC is strong enough to cool the entire house and can be designed to help regulate the cooled air in different ways. They are used along with the furnace to help keep the home cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Heat Pumps

When the property has a full HVAC system, it will include central heating. And one of the components of this is the heat pump. The heat pump is important to the system because it can provide some cooling and heating. You can find these units as packaged or split units.

If you have a split system, the evaporator coil on this is going to be found inside the home while the remainder of that unit will be outside. Then there is a packaged heat pump that comes all in one and each of it will be outside.

The Furnace

Your HVAC system is going to rely on some kind of heating unit to help keep the home warm. Many HVAC systems will rely on natural gas furnaces to provide you with the heat that your home needs. These are a nice option because they will burn through the fuel in order to create more heat.

Generally, the HVAC specialist is going to install these in places that are not going to be in the way. You will be able to find them in crawl spaces and basements of many homes. You will find these in areas where the climate is colder to help keep the home warm.

All of these pieces, along with the proper ventilation, will come together to create the HVAC system that you are looking for. These will ensure that your home is as comfortable as possible, no matter the time of the year and the temperature that you are working with.

Taking Good Care of Your HVAC System

If you want your whole HVAC system to work properly, then you need to perform the right maintenance and care on it that you can. Having a professional take a look at your system once or twice a year can help to find some of the issues that are there and get them fixed early before you are stuck with an expensive bill and either no heat in the winter or not cooling in the summer.

With the help of a qualified professional, you will be able to take care of your HVAC system and get it to work for a long time to come.
